The Consorci de la Colònia Güell (Colònia
Güell Consortium) was created in 1993. It is a public
entity of an associative nature with its own legal personality,
formed by the Consell Comarcal del Baix Llobregat (Baix
Llobregat County Council), the Institut Català del
Sòl (Catalan Land Institute) of the Government of
Catalonia, Diputació de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial
Council), and Santa Coloma de Cervelló City Council.
The Consortium was organised for the management and administration
of the pro-indiviso property of 57 hectares possessed by
the first three member entities at the Colònia Güell.
This property includes the church (Crypt), the pinewoods
and the land that partly surrounds the Colony in the municipal
districts of Santa Coloma de Cervelló and Sant Boi
de Llobregat.
The Board of Governors is the collegiate body responsible
for the governance and administration of the Consortium.
The President of the Consortium is Ms Rosa Boladeras i
Serraviñals, President of the Consell Comarcal del
Baix llobregat (Baix Llobregat County Council).
The Manager of the Consortium is Ms Anna Hernández
i Bonancia.
The headquarters of the Colònia Güell Consortium
is that of the Baix Llobregat County Council:

Its telephone is 93 685 24 00, its fax is 93 685 18 68
and its e-mail is coloniaguell@elbaixllobregat.net
The main tasks of the Consortium are:
- The preservation of the pinewoods, roads and land in
the surroundings of the Colony’s urban core.
- The maintenance and improvement of the church.
- The management of the cultural use of the church.
- The urban development of the Consortium’s land
in accordance with the respective plans.
It should be noted that the restoration of the church,
which is still in progress, was started by Diputació Provincial
de Barcelona (one of the owner members of the Consortium)
in 1999. The works are being financed in various phases
by Diputació Provincial de Barcelona and the Spanish
Ministries of Culture and of Development, respectively.
The latest phase of the works to be carried out was sponsored
by the Ministry of Culture.
Since 2002, the Colònia Güell Consortium,
Santa Coloma de Cervelló City Council and the Baix
Llobregat Tourism Consortium have been joining efforts,
through a collaboration agreement for the development of
the Colony’s tourist resources, to shape the Colònia
Güell’s overall touristic-cultural offering
to visitors.
Within the framework of this agreement, the Consortium
awards the operation of the visits service, which is provided
at present by the company Història Viva.
Taking and reproduction of pictures and use of the area
The Consorci de la Colònia Güell, as the administrator
of the property, is empowered to authorise and/or limit
the use of the area of the church (also called the Crypt)
of the Colònia Güell and/or the reproduction
of its image by third parties. This is also applicable
to the rest of the land of the property.
The application of prices for the various services offered
to visitors, for taking and reproducing pictures, or for
the use of the land of the property, is based on the stipulation
of public rates approved by the Board of Governors through
the respective ordinance.
In order to take and/or reproduce pictures of the church
for non-private uses or with a tripod or spotlights, a
prior written application shall be submitted to the Consorci
de la Colònia Güell, which will contact the
applicant to notify its acceptance or rejection of the
request, as well as the price, the date and time for taking
pictures, and the details of the execution of the contract,
and it will inform the applicant of any special terms that
are applicable.
The ordinance in force on public prices for visits, taking
pictures, and the use of the church area and of the land
administered by the Consorci de la Colònia Güell,
as well as for the sale of publications, was published
in the Butlletí Oficial de la Província de
Barcelona (Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona),
issue 87, on 11 April 2003.
